Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Q: What is a Giclee?
A: This is a new form of digital fine art reproduction. Giclee is a French term that means 'to squirt' and that is what the archival, lab tested inks do when they coat the paper or canvas, all colors at once, with pigment. This process, different than the traditional off-set lighography commonly used in the past to print reproductions, gives a much richer and truer to the original print. The printer is a high end, large format, ink jet printer, which uses VERY EXPENSIVE PIGMENTS, and prints on watercolor paper or canvas. The inks have been lab tested to withstand normal home lignting conditions 80 to 100 years without fading.

Q: What is Egg Tempra?
A: Egg Tempra paintings are produced by mixing watercolor paint with egg yolk and water. The amount of dilution of egg yolk with water varies the effect, and has to be worked out by each painter, on each painting.

Q: How can I view the status of my order?
A: Go to the Customer Service, Account Information page. This page lists all your orders. Click the date of the order whose status you wish to view.

Q: What are your shipping costs?
A: You can view an estimate of shipping costs by viewing your cart. However, final shipping costs will be displayed on the Invoice you see before confirming your order. Shipping is combined for multiple print orders, saving you on the total shipping cost.

Q: I want to buy a print, but can I get it in a different size?
A: Often times yes. The Giclee' reproductions are made in house by AMO Publishing Company, and can be printed in various sizes to "custom fit" your wall. Also, not all sizes are listed on the web site. For instance many Charles Peterson prints also come in "Encore Editions", whicher are smaller sizes.
